Carissa Bisnar’s passion for snowsport has led her on an adventurous journey. She won the women’s division of her first snowboarding competition, has produced film and music festivals, cofounded a nonprofit empowerment program, and is now preparing to launch a snowsport product line.
After winning that first snowboarding competition, Bisnar was hooked. She spent the next year training and traveling for competitions across the West until taking a break to earn her BS in international business at San Francisco State University.
Following the completion of her bachelor’s degree, Bisnar was off and running again—producing snowboarding film and music festivals at Red Rocks Amphitheater; facilitating leadership training sessions across Vail Ski Resorts; cofounding the Colorado-based nonprofit Duchess Ride, an action sports empowerment program for young girls; and skateboarding 304 miles along California's Pacific Coast Highway for charity.
Bisnar feels a duty to improve the future by creating products with a positive impact on the present. She believes that the pursuit of knowledge and mastery is driven by a clear purpose, and there’s no way but forward.
Curious and compelled by a passion for snowsport products, Bisnar joined the University of Oregon’s master of science in sports product management online class of 2021 this spring.
In addition to pursuing her graduate degree, Bisnar is in the beginning stages of designing a product line focused on making backcountry snowsports equipment more accessible to women, with hopes of a soft launch in the next six months.
